Recruitment for New Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters Now Underway

Home Posted on July 10, 2025

The Board of Supervisors has launched an open recruitment process for a new clerk-recorder/registrar of voters. The person selected will serve out the remainder of the current term.

An independent recruiting firm, WBCP, is conducting the search. The top candidates will be subject to a public interview with the Board of Supervisors in the Board chambers on Sept. 22.

“We’re looking for someone who is open-minded to diverse points of view and is willing to be part of the community for years to come,” said Supervisor Sue Hoek, who along with Supervisor Hardy Bullock, makes up the Board’s ad-hoc committee coordinating the selection process.

The clerk-recorder/registrar of voters is responsible for maintaining records on marriages, births, deaths, fictitious business names, property transactions and voter registration, as well as administering elections.

The position became vacant when Natalie Adona, who served for two years and five months, stepped down on June 6 to lead the Marin County Elections Department. Since then, Assistant Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters Corey O’Hayre has been leading the office.

State law requires the Board of Supervisors to appoint a replacement rather than hold a special election.
