NEVADA CITY, Calif. — The Nevada County Library is excited to announce a new series of free technology classes designed to help community members build their digital skills. These classes will be held at the Madelyn Helling Library’s Collaborative Technology Center Classroom, located at 980 Helling Way, Nevada City, Calif. Each class will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is designed for beginner to intermediate skill levels.
These classes are perfect for individuals looking to enhance their digital proficiency, whether for personal growth, career advancement, or staying connected in the modern world. Each session is designed to be interactive, with opportunities for questions and hands-on practice.
Class Schedule
January 16 — Introduction to Social Media
Are you new to social media or looking to expand your knowledge? This class will introduce participants to popular platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. You’ll learn how to create an account, set up your profile, and connect with others. We’ll also cover privacy settings and tips for staying safe online while enjoying the benefits of social networking.
January 30 — Introduction to Windows 11
Dive into the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system with this introductory class. Participants will learn how to navigate the new interface, use the Start Menu effectively, manage files and folders, and explore built-in applications. Whether you’re upgrading from an older version or new to Windows, this class will help you feel confident using your computer.
February 13 — Staying Safe on the Web (Cybersecurity Course)
Protecting your personal information online is more important than ever. This class will provide practical tips for identifying and avoiding online scams, creating strong and memorable passwords, and recognizing phishing emails. Learn how to keep your devices secure and stay one step ahead of cyber threats.
February 20 — Introduction to Google Docs
Google Docs is a powerful, free tool for creating and sharing documents. In this class, you’ll learn how to create new documents, format text, and insert images and tables. We’ll also explore collaboration features, such as sharing documents with others and making real-time edits. Whether for personal or professional use, this class will help you make the most of Google’s cloud-based tools.
