[ARCHIVED] Nevada County Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Nevada County has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year 2021/2022.

“Financial transparency is a priority for Nevada County,” said Auditor-Controller Gina Will. “We are honored to receive this recognition again and will continue to stay current with financial best practices and go beyond the minimum transparency standards.”

The GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Nevada County has been recognized by GFOA for excellence in financial reporting for 15 consecutive years, since the 2006/2007 fiscal year. The Auditor-Controller’s Office prepares an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), providing detailed information regarding the County’s financial position and activities.

“Each department’s fiscal staff are essential to ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded with the highest levels of transparency,” added Chief Financial Officer Martin Polt. “We are proud to work closely with our Auditor’s Office to provide this level of transparency throughout our annual financial reporting and budgeting processes.”
