CalFresh recipients who lost food due to the Rices Fire now have until July 28th to request replacement benefits.
The Food and Nutrition Service has granted approval of Nevada County has received a Federal Waiver of the 10-day reporting requirement for the request of replacement CalFresh benefits for the Rices Fire. This waiver allows CalFresh recipients who lost food due to fire or power outages to request replacement benefits for up to 30 days after the event.
The state estimates that approximately 335 households with CalFresh benefits may have been impacted by the Rices Fire, with an estimated loss of $104,335 in food.
