[ARCHIVED] Nevada County Library Zip Books Program

Nevada County Community Library now has a Zip Books program. The Zip Books program allows library patrons to request a book that is currently not in the library's collection. The item is ordered through Amazon and sent directly to the patron's address, free of charge. The patron must return the item to library staff once they have finished with it so the item may be added to the library's collection to be shared by other library users.

To participate in the program, registered library card holders must be in good standing. The requests are restricted to book and audiobook formats (not in a digital form) that can be ordered through Amazon. Requests can be for adult, teen, or children's books. There are no restrictions on genre, however titles must have a broad appeal and be appropriate for a public library use (i.e. they cannot be of an academic form, such as that more suited to a university or college library).

The Zip Book request must not exceed the cost limits of $75 for audiobooks and foreign-language items, and $50 for all other qualifying items. Patrons can request one Zip Book item at a time, up to three per month. The Zip Book request must be properly returned before another request is submitted.

Zip Books is a Statewide program managed by the NorthNet Library System in partnership with the California State Library and is supported by funds from the California Library Services Act.
