Nevada County Youth Center Senior Group Supervisor Frank Cook was recognized as the Supervisor of the Year for the Sacramento Region California Association of Probation Institution Association (CAPIA). Frank was recognized for his outstanding work changing the lives with our Transitional Age Youth population. Frank has been instrumental in motivating staff to ensure the highest level programming for these young adults. He also assists them in acquiring necessary items they will need to be successful upon release such as a driver's licenses and other forms of identification, bank accounts, financial aid, housing needs, adult education and employment. This was Frank's second time receiving this prestigious honor from CAPIA.

2019 Jerry Darling Award Winner, Rod Kahele

The winner of the 2019 Jerry Darling Award is our very own Senior Group Supervisor, Rod Kahele. The California Association of Probation Institution Association (CAPIA) established the Jerry Darling Award in 1988, named for a long-time consultant with the California Youth Authority. Jerry Darling was instrumental in the development of programs and standards in juvenile institutions. The recipients for this award are individuals who are devoted to the highest principals in the operation of a juvenile institution and are recognized for their contributions to the field. CAPIA members throughout each of the State's six regions are given the opportunity to submit names to the Executive Board for consideration in awarding the Jerry Darling Award annually. Rod, accompanied by his wife Pam and their two sons, accepted the award at the CAPIA Conference Annual Awards Banquet last Wednesday night. We are extremely proud of Rod and all he has done for the Nevada County Youth Center over the last 25 years.
