[ARCHIVED] Community Initiative Funding Application Open for Non-Profits

CIF Funds Teamwork

Community Initiative Funds (CIF) are available to facilitate non-profit projects that support programs aimed at alleviating the causes of poverty in Nevada County.

CIF funding will be allocated on a one-time-only basis to two separate projects from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, at an amount not to exceed $15,000 each, with an estimated total of $30,000 available. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, and CIF funds must be targeted to low-income residents. The application deadline is April 5, 2024, no later than noon.

The County's Adult and Family Services Commission (AFSC) has identified and prioritized the need for "Improving Household Income" in its review of community needs as set forth by the 2024-2025 Community Services Block Grant Community Action Plan (CSBG CAP). Proposals that align with this need may receive priority through the scoring process. All proposals should clearly identify how poverty in Nevada County will be reduced and/or how family self-sufficiency will be improved.

The County's Request for Proposals (RFP) process is now open for qualified non-profit applicants to submit proposals designed to diminish the causes of poverty in Nevada County and promote family self-sufficiency through projects that support educational and cognitive development, income and asset building, nutrition, housing, and health and social/behavioral development. A downloadable copy of the proposal application is available at https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/2633/Adult-Family-Services-Commission. For questions or additional information, interested parties may contact rob.choate@co.nevada.ca.us or by phone at (530) 265-1645.

Proposals will be reviewed and scored by the AFSC Commission or their designees at the April AFSC meeting, scheduled for April 9, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Empire Mine Room in the Eric Rood Administration Center. This will be a public meeting, and a representative from all submitting organizations is strongly recommended to attend.

Nevada County encourages all interested non-profit organizations to submit their proposals and participate in this transformative initiative to help reduce poverty in Nevada County.
