Yesterday, August 16th, the Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center (RDC) celebrated its one year anniversary in its new home. Dispatchers at RDC handle all 911 calls and all non-emergency calls for the entire County of Nevada.
The new facility has several windows and natural light, along with a spacious new setup for telecommunication equipment, on top of a full kitchen and showers if needed. Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts, and the move has boosted overall happiness and job satisfaction.
Several law enforcement agencies visited RDC yesterday to thank the dispatchers for their commitment to community and to meet the very faces behind the voices of 911 who connect them to community members in need. In attendance included: Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Grass Valley Police Department, Nevada City Police Department, Truckee Police, NCLawFire.org, Nevada County Board of Supervisors, KNCO Newstalk 830, YubaNet, and even Mugz the mascot of Truckee PD.
