We are pleased to be honored with the first-ever TEXTIO Leadership Award for our use of the TEXTIO tool. TEXTIO is an augmented writing tool that we rely on to help us with writing our job postings. Reading a job posting (job advertisement) is often the public’s first impression of us as an employer. We want to capitalize on the moment and create a positive impression of our workplace through the words we use in our job advertisements. We do this by running each of our postings through the TEXTIO tool which signals when a subtle shift in language might be called for. Small changes can have a huge impact on job attractiveness. We want to draw in the reader; we want to encourage a diverse applicant pool to apply for our positions because they like what they read about who we are!
How does TEXTIO work? TEXTIO uses predictive analytics to highlight the impact that our job advertisement language will have on various members of the public. Language that resonates well with all age groups, genders, and ethnic backgrounds, is included in our postings. For example, the word “manages” resonates well with one gender better than another and with one age group less than another. By replacing the word “manages” with “coaches and develops,” the appeal of the job posting is enhanced tremendously among a wider spectrum of age groups and genders. The TEXTIO platform not only identifies word usage pitfalls, but it also keeps on trend with the meaning of words over time. Remember when we used to say, “Send me a fax?” If we used the word “fax” in a job posting today, some people wouldn’t know what it means! TEXTIO points out instances when words may mean something different than we intended for them to due to word evolution.
Our TEXTIO award signifies that we have worked hard to put all of our job postings through the TEXTIO tool. With the help of our dedicated Human Resources representatives, Human Resources has created over 330 TEXTIO posts which were written better than 90% of TEXTIO’s clients across the globe. We look forward to building our community with tools such as TEXTIO.
