[ARCHIVED] Sunday CAL FIRE NEU Runs Wildland Urban Interface Drill

Sunday, June 9, CAL FIRE NEU is running a Wildland Urban Interface drill in the Cement Hill, Lake Vera Purdon, and Round Mountain neighborhoods. There will be an increased presence of first responders on roadways and around homes.

A Code Red emergency alert was sent at 9:30am and another will go out to a portion of the community at 11:30am with an evacuation order. This is only a drill. Residents are encouraged to practice their family evacuation plan.

Code Red emergency alerts will display as originating from 866-419-5000 or 855-969-4636 on your caller ID. Please add these numbers to your contacts. If you missed any of the message details, you can also dial the number back to hear the complete message. 

Please encourage everyone in your household to register and make sure these numbers are excluded from your do not disturb settings by adding them to your favorites group (iOS) or with exceptions (Android.) You don’t want to miss these calls.  If you need help signing up with Code Red emergency alerts, please dial 211 for assistance. 

211 CONNECTING POINT & DISASTER RESPONSE

211 is a free service that connects Nevada County residents with critical non-emergency information before, during, and after a disaster. Before disaster strikes, dial 211 or 1-844-319-4119 to learn about preparedness resources andenroll in the Code Red emergency alert system. During a disaster, call 211 for information on evacuations, shelters, road closures, and more. Trained specialists provide up-to-date official information directly from the Emergency Operations Center.

After a disaster, call 211 to connect to resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and recovery programs.
