Nevada County is currently identifying a new opt-in Alert and Warning System.
This does not impact 9-1-1 services. Public safety alerting tools remain fully supported to ensure residents receive emergency notifications, including:
- CalOES’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS)
- Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
- Emergency Alert System (EAS) for television and radio
- Official County and Sheriff communication platforms (social medial, Sheriff's mobile app)
- County emergency information websites
- Local media partners, including print, online and radio
- Genasys Protect for evacuations and warnings
- High-lo sirens and door-to-door notifications by the Sheriff
Public safety communication networks are intentionally built with redundancies to ensure vital information can be delivered even when one system is experiencing issues. Nevada County residents will continue to receive emergency communication when needed.
