Displaced Voters and Emergency Workers Responding to Wildfire
Displaced Nevada County Voters
If you are a Nevada County resident and have been displaced due to wildfire, our office is committed to helping you exercise your right to vote. Here are your options:
- Option 1: One time mailing address change: we can send you a ballot at a temporary mailing address. Please complete this one time change of address form and return it to us in person or by mail, email, or fax.
- Option 2: Use a drop box anywhere in the state: if you have your vote-by-mail ballot and just need to drop it off, you don't have to be in your home county. You can use any drop box in the state and we will get it to your home county on time. Here's a look up tool to find a drop box near you: https://caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov/
- Option 3: Vote in person: our vote centers open starting on Saturday, September 4, 2021 on staggered schedules. Please refer to this link for locations and times: https://www.mynevadacounty.com/3282/Sept-14-2021-Vote-Center-Drop-Box-Locati
- Option 4: Use Remote Accessible Vote-by-Mail: we can email you a ballot with all the information that you need to vote. You will have to return your voted ballot by mail, by using a drop box, or in person. For more information, please email kyle.kenney@co.nevada.ca.us.
Emergency Responders Who Can't Make It Home To Vote
If you are an emergency worker responding to wildfires in Alpine, Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Lassen, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity Counties and you can't make it home in time to vote, election officials in affected counties must provide you with a provisional ballot and forward that ballot to your home county within 10 days. As long as you cast your ballot by close of polls on Election Day (September 14 at 8 p.m.), we will get your ballot to your county within the statutory time allotted and it will be counted.
If you need to reach any of the election officials in affected counties here is how to reach them:
