Building Department

Welcome to the Nevada County Building Department! Our department is committed to providing excellent service to the community in a timely, efficient and effective manner while maintaining compliance with minimum housing, building, and safety laws. We strive to build positive relationships with the public through knowledge and outreach to our citizens.

• Lobby is open from 8 am to 5 pm. 
• New Project Submittal/Walk-in appointments are accepted from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Schedule an in-office appointment
• Online by using our Citizen Access Portal to apply for permits, schedule inspections, and more. For guidance with our online portal, you can follow the instructions provided in this handout.
