Beat the Heat: National Weather Service Issues Heat Warning for Friday Through SundayNational Weather Service Sacramento has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for portions of Nevada County beginning Friday, June 30th, and lasting through Sunday, July 2nd. Nevada County's Office of Emergency Services partners with Nevada County Public Health to review our plans for Excessive Heat Emergencies during high-heat events. South Yuba River Corridor Burn Ban in Effect As of Monday, June 26thThe South Yuba River Corridor Burn Ban took effect for the 2023 fire season beginning on Monday, June 26th. The ban prohibits burning--including campfires and barbecues--on private property within the lower 39-mile stretch of the South Yuba River from Lang’s Crossing to the confluence with Kentucky Creek below Bridgeport. The ban will remain in effect through the Summer and Fall, until the CAL FIRE burn suspension is lifted. Read More

County Offices Closed Tuesday, July 4th for Independence DayAll Nevada County administrative offices will be closed and there will be no transit services on Tuesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. Roadwork on Dog Bar Road will pause on July 3rd and 4th for the holiday and resume on Wednesday, July 5th from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. A portion of Donner Pass Road will remain closed to traffic, including recreational activities, due to potentially unsafe rock fall while geotechnical assessments are underway. Child Support Services to Host Drop-in Hours at Sierra Community House Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Services is partnering with Sierra Community House to provide in person child support services to the Truckee community. Sierra Community House will host drop-in services on the second Wednesday of each month.
