Fire Weather Watch Late Sunday Night Into Tuesday EveningGusty north to northeast winds will develop late Sunday night and continue through Tuesday across the Delta, the Sacramento and northern San Joaquin valleys, Coastal Range, and the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada, Plumas County mountains, and adjacent foothills for elevations up through 5500 feet. The strongest, most impactful winds are expected over the Delta and the west side of the Sacramento Valley on Monday. For the Sierra, the strongest winds are expected Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. These winds combined with low humidity and dry fuels may lead to critical fire weather conditions lasting into Tuesday evening.
Be prepared for the possibility of a public utility power shut off. Have food, lighting, water, and charged batteries that will last for several days. Keep your go-bag packed, make sure your friends and family are signed up for Code Red, follow trusted news sources and know your zone. If you’re working outside, be careful using equipment that can create sparks, always check your towing chains to make sure they are not dragging before towing, and remember that burn piles are still prohibited.
