Stay at Home Order

Nevada County Moves into Regional Stay Home Order Beginning Friday, December 11th

The State announced that Nevada County, along with neighboring counties in the Greater Sacramento region, moved into the State’s Regional Stay Home Order beginning Friday, December 11th. The order will remain in effect for a minimum of three weeks. The State’s Regional Stay at Home Order is triggered when a region’s ICU capacity drops below 15%. The Greater Sacramento region’s ICU capacity has dropped to 14.3%.

The Stay at Home Order means that gatherings of any size are prohibited. Bars, wineries, personal services and hair salons must close temporarily.  Retail can stay open with a cap of 20% capacity and restaurants must stop all on-site dining and only provide take-out or delivery services. Critical infrastructure and schools are allowed to stay open.  Non-essential travel is not allowed across the state of California and the travel advisory to quarantine after any out of state travel is still in place. Masking and physical distancing are mandatory. In Nevada County, we have many opportunities to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. Local recreation with members of the same household is encouraged. Learn more about the regional Stay at Home Order at COVID19.ca.gov.

Nevada County Relief Fund Launches Campaign  to Help Small Businesses Survive

The Nevada County Relief Fund launched a “Small Business Winter Survival Campaign” to raise desperately needed funds to support small, locally-owned businesses hardest hit by the pandemic. For-profit businesses, who are complying with public health guidelines to protect their customers and staff, will be eligible to apply for micro-grants up to $5,000 that may be used for rent relief or other critical business expenses needed to stay open this winter.

“Small businesses have been severely impacted in 2020 -- they’ve faced business losses related to COVID-19, they’ve been forced to close their doors during PSPS events, and they’ve been negatively impacted by the loss of tourism.  Let’s face it, local businesses are the heart of our community and right now they need all of us to lend a hand,” said Sherry Bartolucci, co-chair of the Nevada County Relief Fund’s Community Advisory Council.

EAP Survey

Take the Energy Action Plan Survey

On February 12, 2019, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors approved the Energy Action Plan (EAP) as the County’s unincorporated area’s roadmap for expanding energy-efficiency, water-efficiency, and renewable-energy, and the cost-savings that accompany these efforts. The EAP was prepared by Sierra Business Council and contains a three-year implementation action plan. Beginning in 2019, the Nevada County Energy Action Plan (EAP) Community Workgroup was established to begin implementing community outreach and education to promote the EAP’s Goals and Strategies, as outlined on the County’s Energy Efficiency webpage. Specifically, the County’s goal is a 51% reduction electricity and 30% reduction in natural gas use by 2035.

In partnership with the Sierra Resource Council (SBC) and County Staff, the Nevada County EAP Community Group is launching a survey to gain the general public’s input on what type of resources would be most effective.
