New Food Bank Distribution for Working Families at Youth Center

On Tuesday, March 10th, eight Nevada County Probation Department employees and their families volunteered to staff the first evening food distribution site by the Food Bank of Nevada County at the Nevada County Youth Center (formerly known as Juvenile Hall). The Food Bank of Nevada County, a non-profit organization, was established in 1986 to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in Nevada County.  The Food Bank regularly distributes community-donated food and USDA commodities from multiple locations in Nevada County throughout the month.  Anyone who needs food can visit one of the distribution sites and receive a fair amount of nutritious food, no questions asked.

This is the first evening Food Bank of Nevada County distribution geared towards working families and individuals, and it will be available the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Nevada County Youth Center located on HWY 49 just past the Nevada City Elks Lodge.
