Soda Springs Area Plan

Board of Supervisors Action

On October 25, 2016, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a new Area Plan (PDF) for the community of Soda Springs and surrounding Donner Summit area. The Area Plan outlines a comprehensive and consensus-built development plan with a central focus to offset the economic seasonality of Soda Springs and attract more visitors and business investment for improved prosperity and sustainability, while honoring residents' values and protecting the bountiful natural environment. The Planning Department worked closely with the engaged community for two years to craft the Area Plan and many local residents and business owners attended the Board meeting and spoke in support of the Plan, a truly collaborative project and a good sign for the future of Donner Summit.
