About the Collections Department

Purpose

The Nevada County Collections Division seeks payment of unpaid debts owed to the County of Nevada, including those arising out of civil and criminal court actions.

Service Description

The Collections Department serves in accordance with federal, state and local regulations governing the collection of fines, penalties and judgments. The Collections Department is located in the Nevada County Courthouse in downtown Nevada City, California.

The Collections Division collects the following types of accounts:
  • Code Enforcement
  • Conservatorship
  • District Attorney - Victim Restitution
  • Parking Citations and Equipment Violations and Registration
  • Probation
  • Public Defender
  • Sheriff Medical Costs
  • Superior Court Fines and Fees (limited)
