Currently, Nevada County Connects operates fixed route bus service Monday through Friday between 05:30am and 7:30pm. Limited Saturday service is available on Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and AS. Route 5 to Auburn only operates Monday - Friday. There is no service on Sunday. Additionally, there is no service on the following holidays:

Where is the main Tinloy Transit Center located?
Our main transit center is located at 118 Tinloy Street, Grass Valley. This is between Bennett and Bank Streets behind the Grass Valley Post Office.
I am eligible for a discount fare. How do I get my discount card?
Discount Fare Cards will be available from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm at the Nevada County Operations Center in the Nevada County Transit Services Office located at 12350 La Barr Meadows Rd., Grass Valley. Applications are available in our office and on this web site on the Fares and Passes page. The first three working days of each month, Discount cards will be available at the Tinloy Transit Center between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Can I purchase a monthly pass on the bus?
No, monthly passes may be purchased in our office located at the Nevada County Operations Center in the Nevada County Transit Services Office located at 12350 La Barr Meadows Rd., Grass Valley, CA between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Monthly passes may be purchased the first three working days each month at our main Tinloy Transit Center. Daily passes will still be available on the buses and in our office.
Where can I purchase a monthly pass?
Monthly passes may be purchased in our office located at the Nevada County Operations Center in the Nevada County Transit Services Office located at 12350 La Barr Meadows Rd., Grass Valley, CA between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Monthly passes may be purchased the first three working days each month at our main Tinloy Transit Center. Passes for the next month go on sale starting on the 25th of the previous month.
Monthly passes may be purchased by cash, check or credit/debit card.
Is my monthly pass good for 30 days?
Monthly passes are valid for the calendar month only. They are valid from the first of the month to the last day of the month. They cannot be used before or after those dates.
Is there a way I can see where my bus is on my phone?
Yes. Google maps allows you to see our system map, where the bus is on the route, and where our bus stops are located. Just load https://cnts.routematch.com/fixedroute/ into your computer or phone web browser. Select just a single route or select all route to see where the buses are in our system. Zoom in on the map and the bus stop locations will become visible.
Who can I contact for help planning a trip?
Trip planning assistance is available through 211 Nevada County or contact Nevada County Connects at 530-477-0103 ext. 0. You can also use our Google Trip Planner located on the Nevada County Connects home page.
Can I transfer from one bus to another?
Yes. Once a fare has been paid, either by cash or daily/monthly pass, then the passenger may request a transfer. Please note that we have two fare zones; Zone 1 ($1.50 - Adult) is local routes (1, 2, 3 and 4) and Zone 2 ($3.00 - Adult) for regional routes (5, 6 and 7). If you have paid for a ride in Zone 1 but wish to transfer to a regional route going to Auburn or Penn Valley, then there will be an additional charge for that transfer. Transfers are for your one way direction of travel and cannot be used for round trip rides. Transfers must be used on the next available bus and become void after that time.
Do you accept bank or credit cards?
We do accept bank cards or credit cards for the purchase of monthly passes. Fares are cash (exact change only please). Drivers are unable to make change for your fare.
Can I receive change for my bus fare?
No. Drivers do not carry change and are not able to make change for your fare.
How do I connect with the Amtrak Service?
The Route 5 bus to Auburn will connect with the Amtrak service at the Auburn Amtrak station located at Fulweiler Avenue and Blocker Drive in Auburn.
Can I bring my dog on the bus?
Only service animals are permitted on the bus. Companion animals must be in a cage with a leak proof bottom. Any animal that is disruptive or threatening will be asked to leave the bus with its owner.
I left some items on the bus. Do you have a lost and found?
We have a lost and found area in our office. You can call the office at 530-477-0103 Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00 to see if your item has been turned in.
How do I find a bus stop near me?
Bus stops are marked on the map for each route as well as being displayed on the interactive map on the Nevada County Connects website home page.
Do your buses carry wheelchairs?
Our buses can carry two wheelchairs at a time. Wheelchairs must be able to fit our standard size lift (about 36 x 48) and the total weight of chair and passenger cannot exceed the ability of our lift (about 750 pounds).
Can I bring my bike on the bus?
Our buses are equipped with a front load bike rack. The rack carries three bikes on a first come, first served basis. Passengers must be able to load and secure their own bikes. No motorized bikes, electric or gas powered are permitted on our buses.
What is "On-Demand" service?
An “On-Demand” stop is a stop that is serviced only when there is a request for service at the scheduled time. To be picked up, please call at least one hour in advance of the scheduled pick up time. To be dropped off, inform your driver that you would like to be dropped off at the on-demand stop.
Is there a place for my carry-ons?
Please limit the number of carry-ons to what you can personally handle in one trip onto the bus. All carry-ons must fit on your lap, cannot be blocking the aisle, and you must not allow contents to roll about the bus.
