- Farm Advisor Division
The Farm Advisor is a division of the Community Development Agency. The Farm Advisor Division is a cooperative venture between the County of Nevada, the University of California, and the United States Department of Agriculture. The Farm Advisor Division provides information and training to local residents in the areas of agriculture, nutrition, youth and community development.
Expertise is provided by University of California advisors in the areas of horticulture and small farms, livestock and range management, nutrition, and youth development. Youth development activities are delivered through the 4-H Club program. Nutrition programs provide consumer education to adults and through nutrition classes in elementary schools. Master Gardeners provide advice and training for home gardening and orchards.
UC Cooperative Extension works in partnership with farmers and ranchers to build and strengthen the local food systems in Placer and Nevada Counties. We are dedicated to supporting the local agricultural community and helping it to grow and thrive through a variety of educational and community-building programs.
Master Gardeners are here to provide home gardeners in Nevada County with science-based information, whatever their gardening conditions.
4-H helps young people to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities.
